Ward Almost Leads Swarm to Comeback Over Former Team

The Minnesota Swarm (2-6) suffered their second one-goal loss of the weekend as the Philadelphia Wings (3-5) held on to an 18-17 victory at the X. The Swarm nearly came back from a 18-13 deficit with 7:25 left in the game, but could not tie it up after Ryan Ward cut the gap to one with 49 seconds left. The Swarm are winless in all four home games this season and have lost four straight.

  • The Swarm were swept this weekend by Arizona and Philadelphia
  • Ryan Ward gets his second straight hat trick to lead the Swarm against the team he played with just as recently at the beginning of the month. Ward had six goals and four assists this weekend.
  • The Wings had three players score four goals each - Jeff Ratcliffe, Andrew Burkholder & Jake Bergey
  • This was the first Sunday and afternoon game in team history
  • Matt Disher tied his own team record with 45 saves
  • D'Arcy Berthiaume had a season high two goals in the game
  • Craig Conn had a Swarm team record 17 loose balls
  • Shawn Nadelen returned to Minnesota for the first time after this month's trade involving Ward and had a holding penalty.
