The Sting suspended operations on November 2, 2007. Their players were loaned out for the 2008 season through a dispersal draft. On June 2, 2008, the Sting still had not found new ownership and notified the league that they will not play in 2009. The players were redispersed for good on June 30, 2008 and if the Sting return to the league, they will start as an expansion franchise.
