The Arizona Sting suspended operations on November 2, 2007. Their players were loaned out for the 2008 season through a dispersal draft that occured on November 5, 2007. On June 2, 2008, the Sting still had not found new ownership and notified the league that they would not play in 2009. The players were redispersed for good on June 30, 2008 and if the Sting returned to the league, they would start as an expansion franchise.
