Brampton Excelsiors: Vincent Ward
The Excelsiors had five picks in this year's OJLL draft after finishing last with a 3-17 record a year ago. They used to the first to grab Halton Hills minor lacrosse standout Ward, and he is making it clear quickly that it was a wise selection.
There aren't many 17-year-old rookies who lead their OJLL teams in goals and points, but that is exactly what Ward is doing through a third of Brampton's season with 11 goals and 24 points in six games. Considering the way that top Jr A players tend to improve season over season, Ward's hot start sets the table for a potentially sensational junior career.

Although the OJLL had yet to name their finalists or award winners prior to publishing this year's Top 50, we'd be shocked if Vincent Ward wasn't voted the league's Joe Nieuwendyk Award recipient, AKA Ontario's Rookie of the Year. Why? Do you really need to ask? Ward had the OJLL's 13th highest points-per-game average (4.33) and 8th best assists per too (2.89). We'd list the few names statistically above him, but trust us, they are the elite of the elite, a group Ward quickly found himself included in.
