JAKE GOVETT A runner-up for CCBLL MVP honors in 2018, Govett followed that up with another outstanding summer playing for the Red Hawks, a campaign unquestionably good enough to be named this year's best player in Colorado. In his first-ever game in the CCBLL, Govett exploded for seven goals in what is still the most impressive debut of any player in any NCBS league. He's played in 28 games over two seasons with the 'Hawks, and has only been held scoreless once. With still as many as two seasons of NCBS eligibility left, he'll likely set new CCBLL career point-producing records midway through next summer. He is a straight up power forward who not only scores in quantity and quality, he also does a ton of vacuuming at the Foothills Fieldhouse. His 59 loose balls co-led Colorado, and really the nation too when you subtract face-off specialist Chris DiMarco from the muddled mix. He did not enrolled at school last year, so he has not completed four years of NCAA eligibility. - SS] Let's address the big question first. Yes, Zavitz is small. He's listed at 5'6" and 140 pounds. Maybe he's put on a bit of weight since that measurement, but he's not a big guy by an means. The more important question is, how does that limit him as a player? The answer to that is that it doesn't seem to stop him from being effective. Zavitz helped the Athletics win the 2021 OJLL championship. He finished 13th in the scoring race, sitting between 2020 NLL picks Marshall Powless (7th overall to Saskatchewan) and Tanner Buck, who just earned his second All-World team honours while winning another World Junior Lacrosse Championship gold medal. Zavitz consistently finds space while avoiding the kind of big hit that his size makes you worry about for him, and he absorbs the usual punishment that any forward will face and never shies away from returning to the areas where he knows it awaits him.
