Game Notes
Zach Higgins comes in down 9-3 in the third quarter in relief of Brodie MacDonald and saves 15 of 16 shots to help lead the Swarm on a 11-1 run to overtake the Edmonton Rush 14-10. Miles Thompson and Callum Crawford had three goals each to lead the offense. The Swarm pressure defense suffocated the Rush in the second half and Jordan MacIntosh took control at the faceoff X. Other Swarm goals were Shayne Jackson & Andrew Suitor with two each and singles for MacIntosh and Corbyn Tao with Ethan O'Connor and Nick Cotter (in his first Swarm game) getting their first Swarm goals.
- YouTube - Miles Thompson GWG on ESPN SportsCenter Top Ten. Two games and two hat tricks for #2 in Blue and Gold.
- Logan Schuss was activated yesterday prior to the game from the hold out list and assisted on two goals. He looked a bit shaky but if he is back for the rest of the season, he will shake the rust off. He only took four shots, a career low.
- Shane MacDonald was placed on the physically unable to perform list to make room for Schuss. He has an illness that prevented him from making the trip to Edmonton.
- Ethan O'Connor scored his first Swarm goal to open the scoring for the team. The shorthanded goal was the first for the Swarm this season.
- Nick Cotter made his Swarm debut scoring a fourth quarter goal and scooping two loose balls
- Shayne Jackson got the first Swarm power play goal the year to open the fourth quarter after the team did not cash in on their first eight opportunities of the season.
- Andrew Suitor's empty net goal was the first for the Swarm since April 13, 2013 when Mitch Belisle finished off the Mammoth, 17-12, with the empty netter, which is his only goal as a member of the Swarm.
- The Swarm's nine fourth quarter goals tied a team record for that quarter which ties their nine fourth quarter goals against Philadelphia on March 29, 2013.
- The Swarm score seven straight to end the game to offset the six in a row the Rush had in the first half.
- Neither Callum Crawford or Shayne Jackson had a single point in the first half but combined for five goals and seven assists in the second half.
- Jordan MacIntosh has played in all 56 possible games to start his career which is a team record to start a career with the Swarm. He just passed Crawford for the second longest streak in Swarm history only trailing Noah Talbot who played in 75 straight games.
