Game Chronology

  • 1st Quarter
    • Jackson comes off the screen and finds Schuss alone on the crease for the goal – SWARM 1-0
    • Schuss with a long bomb that Cosmo saw just in time
    • Benesch tripped up Hass with the ball as the Swarm started to transition – SWARM pp
    • Lots of shots on net then Crawford gets a rebound and gets a cross crease pass to Gillam, who squats and shoots for the pp goal – SWARM 2-0
    • Suitor and Priolo have words and will both go to the box for two minutes
    • 7:39 in the first quarter – SWARM 2 bandits 0
  • 2nd Quarter
    • Schuss with a slight feint and shoots it past Cosmo – SWARM 6-2
    • Jones called for a CV
    • Resetarits with the quick stick goal to the right of Higgins – bandits 3-6
    • Higgins with two quick saves the last off Tavares
    • 9:47 left in the 2nd quarter – SWARM 6 bandits 3
    • D. Smith gets the ball alone on the pass from Steenhuis as the Swarm are slow to slide for the goal – bandits 4-6
    • Hass leads the break and finds MacIntosh for the goal, but called CV. Swarm challenge. MacIntosh runs into Cosmo, who is being looked at by the trainers
    • Goal looks good right foot out and left foot in air as ball crosses the line
    • Swarm lose challenge and first half timeout
    • Look at different angle, it looks like CV
    • Ball loose in Buffalo zone, as Priolo finally gets ball, finds Resetraits who then finds D. Smith for the breakaway goal – bandits 5-6
    • Schuss nails Gillam with a shot
    • Cosmo stops Crawford’s shot but the ball almost crosses the line on the rebound
    • Swarm called for eight second violation
    • 4:20 left in the second – SWARM 6 bandits 5
    • Priolo finds Tavares off the bench for the breakaway goal – bandits 6-6
    • Priolo with a one hand interception at mid floor
    • Matisz hits post on the break
    • D. Smith one on one with Higgins but drops pass
    • Higgins save on Wilson then blocks with facemask the rebound shot by Tavares
    • Halftime – SWARM 6 bandits 6
  • 3rd Quarter
    • Right off the faceoff, MacIntosh wins it and with two wings, he takes it all the way down and puts it past Cosmo for the goal – SWARM 7-6
    • Tavares breaks up outlet pass to MacIntosh to force turnover
    • Brownell leads the break and finds Resetarits coming off the bench. Resetarits leans over the crease for the goal – bandits 7-7
    • Schuss with two good chances –first saved by Cosmo, second waived off for CV
    • Gillam comes around the crease r to l , turns the corner and tucks it in past Cosmo for the goal – Gillam with a hat trick – SWARM 8-7
    • 1st regular season hat trick for Gillam. His other hat trick came in last year’s playoff game in Toronto.
    • 1st media break of the third quarter – SWARM 8 bandits 7
    • Steenhuis finishes the break off the bench for the goal – bandits 8-8
    • Cosmo bends backwards to stop Gilbert’s shot
    • Culp then denied in the same fashion by Higgins
    • Matisz called for CV even as the ball crosses the line
    • Hass loses the ball as he looked to finish 3 on 2 break
    • D. Smith strips the ball from Hass on the break
    • 4:30 left in the third quarter – SWARM 8 bandits 8
    • Higgins stops Priolo with a second left in the SC as Priolo tries to come around the crease
    • Jones called for CV as he collides with Cosmo. Jones slow to get up but is all right
    • Suitor gets the rebound and turns on the speed on transition and finds Hass going to the net for the goal – SWARM 9-8
    • Downing’s helmet knocked off by the bench, Swarm ball
    • Crepinsek dumps Steenhuis into the back of the Swarm goal
    • Swarm on pp to start the fourth
    • End of the third – SWARM 9 bandits 8
  • 4th Quarter
    • First time the Swarm have led after three since January 18th. Tied on February 1st.
    • This is the longest a Swarm starting goaltender has lasted since February 1st.
    • Thorimbert on the 3 on 2 break with a low laser that rolls by Higgins – bandits 9-9
    • Glove save by Higgins on Steenhuis
    • Williams denied by Higgins as he comes off fast off the bench
    • Higgins on the ball as Wilson tries shot after the quick whistle
    • Sorensen’s shot just trails off the post after Cosmo’s initial save
    • 9:07 left in the game – SWARM 9 bandits 9
    • Suddons nails Jackson on the crease but does not get a call
    • Higgins is spectacular as he bends over backwards to stop Williams
    • Suitor and Priolo get ready to for a huge showdown behind the breakaway
    • Not much action- tell you the truth, I think Suits cut it off a bit early
    • Both to the box for 5 minutes, that will leave just 38 seconds left in the game when both can come back in.
    • First fight for the Bandits this season and this is their ninth game of the year. Unheard of in years past
    • An overhand shot by Sorensen which is a rare thing.
    • Culp forces the turnover, gets held by Crawford and loses the ball. D. Smith scoops the ball and flies down the floor for the goal – bandits first lead at 10-9
    • MacIntosh appeared to score a goal and what a challenge but it looks like it went behind the net.
    • 2nd media break of the 4th quarter – SWARM 9 bandits 10
    • Steenhuis gets the pass off slip pick on the crease, fakes high to the right and shoots to Higgins left for the goal – bandits 11-9
    • Steenhuis scores again as he leaps in the air off the pick, splits the D and scores top center – bandits 12-9
    • Swarm thought a reset of clock was needed but wasted time talking to ref about it
    • Crepinsek and Wilson with penalties for roughing each other
    • Final – SWARM 9 bandits 12

Game Notes

  • Zach Higgins saves a career high 45 shots. It is the most that a Swarm goaltender has saved in one game this season.
  • Josh Gillam gets his first NLL and Swarm regular season hat trick
  • The Swarm scored the most goals in the first quarter this season with 5
  • David Earl was activated off injured reserve prior to the game and Dane Stevens was put on the practice roster.
  • The goal by Jordan MacIntosh six seconds into the third quarter was fastest by an NLL team to start a quarter since 2008.
  • MacIntosh became the all-time leader in scooped loose balls in Minnesota Swarm regular season history with 453 passing Ryan Cousins who had 448
  • MacIntosh also became the first Swarm player with 500 regular season faceoff wins as he reached 505 by games end.
  • The Swarm are two games behind the Toronto Rock for third place and the last playoff spot in the East.
  • The Swarm have lost to each of the other eight teams in the NLL once each this season.
